We prioritise

community, wellbeing, inclusivity, diversity, and social impact.

Our Vision

We envision a world where neurodivergent individuals and their families thrive, supported by innovative and inclusive allied health services that celebrate diversity and promote community well-being.

Our Mission

Our mission is to empower neurodivergent children, teens, young adults, and their families through affirming allied health services. We foster their unique abilities, embrace their identities, and champion inclusion in every aspect of life.

At Light, evidence-based care encompasses best research, clinical expertise/experience and lived experience. We engage in regular professional development so that we can provide current, high quality therapeutic services.

We advocate for and celebrate individuals’ differences and strengths to build positive self-identity. We strive towards removing environmental barriers to promote inclusion and improve functional capacity. We strongly believe that societal and environmental structures and expectations create barriers for the neurodivergent community.

We acknowledge and encourage the individual to take control of their therapy, goals, progress, and reviews. We believe this allows for progress to become more meaningful and therapy more impactful.

We recognise the family and the individual as the experts and work collaboratively with the family. We take the time to understand different family structures to ensure our approaches respects and accommodates all forms of diversity.

A culturally safe approach means that we recognise that culture is an important aspect in therapy so that we can safely meet diverse needs, expectations, and rights. We strive to collaborate with appropriate care team members, family members, community organisations etc. to ensure we are providing a culturally safe therapeutic service.

We take a trauma informed approach to therapy and recognise the impact that trauma continues to have on individuals and prioritise safety, choice, and control. Past experiences shape the way that we engage and perform in occupations, therefore trauma needs to be considered across all areas of occupational therapy practice.

We believe in evidence based, person/family-centred, neurodiversity affirming, culturally safe and trauma informed care.

Through these approaches, we strive to improve engagement, well-being, sense of safety and outcomes.
